Hugo Chávez to attend the World Social Forum in Belem


Presidents Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva  (Brazil), Evo Morales (Bolivia),
Rafael Correa (Ecuador), Hugo Chávez  (Venezuela) and Fernando Lugo
(Paraguay) confirmed their participation at the World Social Forum to be
held in the Brazilian city of Belem, reported on Friday Brazilian Minister
of the Presidency Luis Dulci.

According to the spokesperson, one of the closest officials to President
Lula, the five leaders "were invited to participate by the organizers of the
World Social Forum," AFP quoted.

"Based on the reports we have received, the five leaders have confirmed
their participation in the event."

The previous events were held in the cities of Porto Alegre (Brazil, 2001,
2002, 2003 and 2005), Mumbai (India, 2004), Bamako (Mali), Caracas and
Karachi (Pakistan, all of them in 2006), and Nairobi (Kenya, 2007). In 2008,
the organizers did not carry out just one event but a global mobilization.
