In response to the closure of more than 300 community radio stations in the northern provinces of Thailand, Montreal-based World Association of Community Radio Broadcasters is organizing a social forum October 21 to 23 on media freedom.

The Thai Social Forum will take place at Thammasat University’s Rangsit campus. According to organizers, it will bring together non-governmental organizations and groups from across Thailand to discuss political and social reforms and to offer suggestions for a new charter.

Organizers expect about 3,000 participants.
